I voted and I hope you did also.

It is how we Americans make sure that the proper candidate is chosen. If you don’t vote then the wrong person is going to be put in charge.

Deflated

September 16, 2008 by ProfTheory

Well I got my first flat tire, fortunately it wasn’t while riding. I’m guessing it happened while it was locked up in the bike rack at school. I’m only guessing since I was able to ride in to school that day and I found it flat when I went to leave to go home. I ended up taking the bus home that day.

It happened on a Thursday so Friday I decided to drive in to town and get another inner tube. Just as I was getting into town the “idiot-light” came on indicating the alternater wasn’t working so I turned around and went back home not wanting the car to die, or fail to start, while away from home. In the end I replaced the alternator and serpentine belt, which was cracking, so I could use Dad’s car to get the proper inner tube. So now I am again able to ride in to school.

Follow up

August 29, 2008 by ProfTheory

I ended up rescheduling the interview - now it’s Sept 10 @ 10am. As for the call I was told “I’m still a strong candidate.” I wonder when I’ll get elected for the job?

School is back in session

And I am still here in Warner Cafe doing my job search. It’s good that I get along with the faculty and staff here and that they let me stay.

Living with Linux

August 15, 2008 by ProfTheory

I’ve been keeping myself busy lately by using Linux more and by trying to expand my knowledge of it. I’ve set up a local repoository for updating my desktop which only has a dialup connection. I setup up my laptop, which is running Fedora 8, to save the cached RPMs which I then transfer to the desktop. I’m also learning that it isn’t good to mix independent repositories in with the main Fedora repo since they often conflict.

Among some of my future project, in random order,  would be to setup an Amateur Radio packet station, an Asterisk PBX (phone) system, MythTV DVR, FreeRADIUS, Webserver (w/Java, Apache, Perl, PHP, MySQL), and learn to program wih those languages. I also want to set up NIS for account management.

Still enjoying ride to Cobleskill

August 15, 2008 by ProfTheory

I’m finding little by little the ride to Cobleskill is getting a easier to do. I’ve also learned to keep the tire pressure close to the top limit, which is 65psi, which makes for a more pleasant ride since I don’t have to exert as much effort to get the same effect.

WorkForce

June 13, 2008 by ProfTheory

Today I stopped by WorkForce, formerly known as the Un-employement Office / Community Center, to get some tips that should help me get from the interview to the job. Speaking of which I need to call an employer Monday to arrange for an interview next week.

I called a former employer yesterday (6/12/08) to see if I might get hired and I was told to check back in 2-3 weeks.

And the search goes on …

I’m still searching and following up leads but none have paid off yet. So the search continues.

Time for plan B

January 24, 2008 by ProfTheory

Well the position isn’t going to be created so now it’s time to look for work elsewhere.

So I went to the Career Development Center and got a list of websites to use for my job search. So I am now posting my resume on those sites and then scanning for job openings.
